LPA’s trough bringing rains over parts of PH — Pagasa

(Photo by Pagasa) MANILA, Philippines — The trough of the low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility is affecting parts of Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas, the state weather bureau said on Wednesday. In the 5 p.m. weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration, weather specialist Benison Estareja said that the LPA was last located 940 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon as of 3 p.m. He noted that it has a “high chance” of developing into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours. Article continues after this advertisement READ: Potential tropical depression may enter PAR in 12-24 hours “Its trough is bringing rains in some areas in the country, including Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Romblon where light to moderate with at times heavy rains are possible overnight,” Estareja said. He added that the rest of Luzon will see cloudy skies with chances of localized thunderstorms starting Wednesday afternoon. Meanwhile, rains due to southwest monsoon are affecting Palawan, western portion of Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Region, and Soccsksargen. Thursday forecast Estareja shared that the effects of the LPA’s trough will continue to prevail over huge portions of Southern Luzon on Thursday. “We’re seeing cloudy skies over Bicol Region, Marinduque, Romblon, Quezon, Mindoro provinces,” he added.
