London rail services are disrupted this morning after a person was hit by a train. Great Northern trains between Moorgate/King’s Cross and Hertford North, and between those London stations and Stevenage, are expected to be disrupted through the rush hour. It comes after a person was hit by a train between Hertford North and Alexandra Palace, according to National Rail. On the Tube, the Piccadilly line is not running today between Cockfosters and Uxbridge. This is due to a track fault at Kenton. There is a good service on the rest of the line. The timetable between London Waterloo and Yeovil Junction will be reduced to one train per hour.SWR said it would be bringing in the changes, effective from 10 August, in response to the series of heatwaves being experienced in the UK this summer.“Record-breaking heat and low rainfall have dried out the clay embankments between Salisbury and Exeter, affecting track stability,” said a spokesman. “To keep customers safe, we’re introducing speed restrictions between Tisbury and Honiton.”
