Linda Perhacs’ missing persons case takes surprising turn as folk singer is found ‘safe’ after 8 months

Linda Perhacs has been found after she alarmingly went missing for eight months. The folk singer, 82, was found “safe” Wednesday, the Los Angeles Police Department Missing Persons Unit told the Daily Mail. The LAPD noted that they can’t say where she was found due to HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), which protects sensitive patient health information and privacy. Folk singer Linda Perhacs has been found “safe” after going missing for eight months. dubfrosty/Instagram The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Perhacs (pictured here in November 2018) was found Wednesday, though did not disclose where she was found. lindaperhacs/Instagram Perhacs’ friend Mark McNeill first took to Instagram Monday to ask the public for help finding Perhacs. “Linda Perhacs our dear friend and legendary singer-songwriter was discharged from a residential care facility approximately eight months ago under the supervision of her legal guardian,” he wrote. “Since then, friends and longtime collaborators have been unable to reach her and repeated attempts to contact her guardian have reportedly gone unanswered.” The identity of Perhacs’ legal guardian isn’t clear. Perhacs’ former manager, Laurel Stearns, told Page Six Tuesday, “We are taking all measures. Our priority here is to get the word out and make sure that she is safe and comfortable.” Concern for Perhacs mounted as her music co-producer Fernando Perdomo told Page Six he was afraid she was abandoned after being checked out of the facility. “My biggest fear is that she was just dropped off on the street somewhere,” he said. He told us he contacted her healthcare facility, and was told they don’t allow anybody to get checked out who doesn’t have a proper place to live. Perdomo noted, “But that could mean anything.” The musician, who filed a report with Adult Protective Services, said the last time he saw the singer was to celebrate her 80th birthday at the facility in September 2024. He told us he later heard through someone who had visited the singer that her memory was “failing,” so he wanted to be careful about visiting her to avoid confusing her. In an Instagram video Monday, Perdomo said he had also lost touch with Perhacs’ next of kin. Perdomo claimed that he used to be in contact with Perhacs’ next of kin — but now he’s not answering his phone calls. “I think he might have blocked us,” he said, “which is really, really weird.” Perhacs is best known for her first album, “Parallelograms,” which she released in 1970. Though the psychedelic folk album didn’t receive any commercial success when it was released, it received renewed attention in the ’90s and was eventually reissued three times.
