Annie is known for doing stunts with Bonnie Blue and Lily Phillips (Picture: @anniekknight) Sex worker Annie Knight, known as Australia’s most sexually active woman, recently got married in a lavish Queensland wedding. British sex worker Lily Phillips, known for her extreme sex challenges, was one of Annie’s bridesmaids. There were 72 guests, white roses, and Annie wore a £2630 dress to marry her groom, Henry Brayshaw. But while Annie described her wedding on October 1 as ‘the most perfect day’, there was one moment in particular that has got people talking. In what seems to be the best man speech, a pointed joke was made at the expense of Annie’s OnlyFans career. ‘I just want to say a couple of quick thank yous,’ the man said to the wedding guests. ‘Firstly, to the caterers, the bar staff, the venue, and obviously the 30,000 sad, lonely men that paid for all of this.’ The joke was met with a chorus of awkward groans and forced laughter, as shocked bridesmaid faces turned to Annie, who’s reaction wasn’t visible. Annie married her partner, Henry, over the weekend (Picture: @anniekknight) The best man perhaps realised his faux pas, saying ‘that was my only one’, before moving on. It’s no secret that Annie is sex worker. She fled Fiji with Bonnie Blue in 2024, after their plans to sleep with 18-year-old ‘schoolies’ were foiled by the Fijian government. And, that year, she amassed a body count of 639 men. Still, the comment at her wedding was enough for Annie to address it on Instagram, calling it a ‘bad joke’, and posting a video instead of a gushing speed from her mother-in-law. Some might argue that when she’s so public about her sexual exploits, this kind of joke simply comes with the territory. And while only Annie knows if she felt hurt by the joke — or found it funny — experts tell Metro it speaks to the wider ideology that a woman’s sex life defines her. Bestie Lily was a bridesmaid (Picture: @anniekknight) Psychologist Emma Kenny says: ‘Being open about your sexuality does not give everyone unlimited permission to make jokes at your expense. ‘On a day celebrating her relationship, I would want the focus to be on her as a person, her happiness and the commitment she and her husband are making.’ Emma points to the long-held belief that ‘sexual experience increases a man’s status, while diminishing that of a woman’s’. Psychotherapist Eloise Skinner agrees that this comment could be a ‘slap in the face’ for Annie. She adds: ‘Even if she’s not offended, it’s just the wrong kind of context in which to make this sort of comment. ‘For those who operate in “extreme” circumstances like the sex work industry, it might feel more ‘normalised’ to make comments on these kinds of issues. ‘But we need to question the assumption that someone’s sexual history tells us their moral worth. ‘It does not tell us whether they are kind, dependable, loving or capable of a committed relationship.’ The bridesmaid difficulties A distasteful joke wasn’t the only challenge when it came to Annie’s wedding. Several of her closest friends declined to be her bridesmaids, because they were afraid it would endanger their careers. ‘They were devastated,’ Annie told Australian news brand, Mamamia. Some of her friends were forced to turn down bridesmaid duties (Picture: Annie Knight) Annie explained that her friends’ bosses has grown concerned about their employees being associated with her on her big day. ‘It wasn’t a decision they made lightly,’ she added. ‘They were honoured to be chosen, but ultimately, due to their own careers, they couldn’t be featured so close to me.’ Of course, Lily Phillips had no problem supporting her best friend. The OnlyFans star is all too familiar with the backlash when it comes to a sex worker finding love and happiness. Lily is now in a monogamous relationship (not including her sex work) with her boyfriend Sammy, who she met in Australia. Annie introduced Lily Phillips to her new man (Picture: Annie Knight) ‘It’s my “I told you so moment”,’ Lily told Metro. ‘All the comments start to eat away at you and you have week moments where you’re like “gosh, am I going to be alone forever?”’ The sex worker initially met Sammy, 27, through newlywed Annie. The pair have been filming a reality TV show called ‘Turned On: Dirty Sexy Money’ which follows the lives of 10 sex workers as they navigate the industry, and Sammy had been staying at Annie’s house, where he and Lily hit it off. Sex work after marriage Annie has openly said she won’t be stopping her sex work after marriage, although she no longer has the desire to complete more extreme sex challenges. ‘I will still be on the platforms, but, yeah, I am winding down the big stunts,’ Annie previously told MailOnline. Her husband Henry is on board with this, having known Annie since the start of her career. The pair’s love story began when they worked together at a Melbourne pub in 2016, building a friendship outside of work. But, it wasn’t until March 2025 that Henry confessed to Annie he was ‘in love’ with her. One week later, the couple were engaged. Ultimately, psychologist Emma believes that parts of society begrudge women sex workers the happiness they believe others deserve. ‘There is still a tendency to divide women into those considered respectable and those who are expected to carry a permanent mark against them,’ she explains. ‘That can lead to a punitive attitude towards a sex worker finding love, getting married or building a stable life. ‘Psychologically, affection, security and belonging matter to all of us and those needs do not disappear because someone creates sexual content. ‘A woman should never have to prove that she has lived according to everybody else’s values before people allow her to be happy.’ Do you have a story you’d like to share?
