Lily Allen Documentary Set at Prime Video

A documentary about Lily Allen is coming to Prime Video. The streamer announced the feature-length doc on Wednesday, promising “an intimate portrait of the life and career of a global icon and voice of a generation.” The documentary comes after the explosive release of Allen’s fifth album, “West End Girl,” which marked her first record in seven years and made headlines for its examination of her marriage to “Stranger Things” star David Harbour. Allen is currently on tour for “West End Girl” and will soon be hitting the summer festival circuit. Directed by award-winning documentarian Mat Whitecross (“Oasis: Supersonic,” “Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams”), the untitled doc “will chart Lily’s extraordinary journey, from the ‘Queen of MySpace’ who changed the rules of the music industry, to the cultural force she is today,” according to its official synopsis. “As a pioneering woman in modern music, Lily’s sharp wit and candid storytelling directly paved the way for a generation of today’s biggest female artists.” Popular on Variety Prime Video says the doc will launch globally in 2027 and feature “interviews with those who know her best,” though names of participants were not revealed. “This is Lily Allen as she’s never been seen before,” the press release states. “Raw, real and redefining what it means to thrive in the spotlight.” The Allen film is co-produced by Magna Studios, which is behind the upcoming Oasis doc “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” and Mint Pictures (“Oasis: Supersonic,” “Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams”). Altitude is managing the global theatrical release and home entertainment rights worldwide.
