Lawrence Bishnoi gang associate deported from Canada, arrested in Delhi

A close associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was deported from Canada and was arrested by Punjab Police at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on Tuesday.The accused, Karamveer Singh, was detained by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) following his arrival in India from Canada. Punjab Police described his detention as a major breakthrough in its crackdown on transnational organised crime.According to Punjab Police, Karamveer Singh had provided logistical support and a hideout to Anmol Bishnoi in the United States. Anmol is the younger brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.Karamveer was wanted in connection with a case, including charges under the Arms Act and Passport Act. The Punjab Police had also initiated a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him earlier this month. "The accused has a criminal history involving cases related to murder, attempt to murder, robbery, extortion, Arms Act offences and other criminal activities," Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said in a statement, calling it a "major breakthrough against transnational organised crime".According to Punjab Police, Karamveer had assisted Anmol Bishnoi during his stay in the US by providing logistical support and accommodation. According to sources, Anmol had also stayed at Karamveer's house in the US. A video of Anmol Bishnoi dancing and partying with Punjabi singers in the US had earlier gone viral, and the house shown in the video was reportedly Karamveer's residence.Karamveer was also allegedly involved in providing shelter and legal assistance to gangsters linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang who reached the US.When the FBI began taking action against members of the Bishnoi gang in the US, Karamveer subsequently shifted to Canada, according to the information provided.Karamveer's alleged role had also surfaced in connection with the firing at Punjabi singer AP Dhillon's house in Canada, according to the information provided.Following his deportation from Canada, Punjab Police took him into custody at the Delhi airport.
