During a post-reunion interview with Us Weekly, Killian admitted that he broke both his legs at the same time after doing a backflip and ended up in a wheelchair for six months. As for his recovery, he shared that “Ashley had to take care of me for about six and a half months, which was pretty brutal for her.”He added that he “felt really bad” for his now-ex, because the injury “definitely caused stress” and ultimately strained their relationship. “She was doing everything for us. I couldn’t cook, I couldn’t clean, and I couldn’t drive myself anywhere. So she was an absolute trooper for that,” he said, giving Ashley her flowers for helping him through his recovery. He also confirmed that Ashley called off their engagement six or seven months after the show wrapped filming and alleged that she quietly made plans to move out of their shared home.Add Cosmopolitan as a preferred source in your Google search results.Use your Google account to add this to your settings.“As soon as my legs were somewhat healed and I could somewhat stand up in the boots, Ashley decided to go get a one-bedroom condo behind my back without telling me,” he claimed. “The next day she told me that she was moving out, so she packed within two days. I helped her pack and move into her new place. Then we didn’t speak for about three months or so.”After attempting to remain friendly and go to church together, Killian admitted that they decided to take some time apart. In the months since their split, he told the outlet that he and Ashley are still on good terms and he “just [wants to] be there for her—especially with her mother passing away.”Ashley separately opened up about their breakup during an interview with Swooon, where she said it was the “best decision” she made after the reunion when Killian should have been “protecting [her] at all costs, and he wasn’t.”“When you don’t see your children with that person anymore, I think it just—it’s not gonna work. It finally just hit me, and I decided to walk away,” Ashley added. “It was very hard for me because that’s my person for five years, and I thought that’s who I was going to end up with. It was the hardest decision I had to make, but probably the best decision.”
