Kentucky football updates 2026 roster with new jersey numbers

KSR FootballUK Athletics Football season is inching closer and closer. It’s time to get more familiar with the team that Will Stein has put together ahead of his debut campaign as Kentucky’s new head coach. UK recently updated the 2026 roster, which includes plenty of information (height/weight, position, hometown, etc.) on every single player heading into next season, along with those who were not listed on the spring roster. There were also changes to jersey numbers for a handful of players. Below are some of the notable jersey changes/additions going into the fall. Click here to view the full Kentucky football roster. DB Martels Carter Jr. (0 – was No. 4) DB Andre Clarke Jr. (1) ILB Antwan Smith (4 – was No. 44) QB Matt Ponatoski (9) QB Callum Wither (10) TE Lincoln Watkins (11) ILB Justyn Hartley (17) WR Davis McCray (84) Carter Jr., who is still listed as a defensive back despite suiting up at running back during spring practice, changed his number from 4 to 0, while Ponatoski will rock the number nine — the same jersey number that 2027 commit Jake Nawrot wears in high school. We’ll let them debate who gets to wear it once they’re both on campus next summer.
