More than 2.2million were evacuated in Zhejiang province, according to state media. Over 290,000 were evacuated from at-risk areas of Shanghai, while Fujian province evacuated more than 180,000 people. In the coast city of Yueqing, more than 1,300 trees were toppled. Typhoon Bavi also passed north of Taiwan on Saturday but did not make landfall. Authorities said at least 134 people across the island were injured in apocalyptic conditions. Tornadoes are extremely rare in the Hubei province, according to weather expert Wang Xiaoling, with the last tornado striking the region in 2021. Flooding has killed at least four people in the southern Chinese city of Nanning, as rivers and reservoirs flooded. Typhoon Maysak made landfall in the southern island province of Hainan before striking Vietnam on Sunday and moving towards Guangxi.
