See more Daily Mail on Google - save us as a Preferred Source Published: 13:56 EDT, 2 September 2026 | Updated: 14:00 EDT, 2 September 2026 A cocaine drug dealer who thought he looked like Daniel Craig was caught by police after he posted details of a jog on Strava.Andrew Doran was part of an elaborate plot to smuggle 172 kilos of cocaine in gas canisters from the Netherlands to the UK but he also fancied himself as a 007 secret agent.The 42-year-old criminal believed he was Daniel Craig's doppelganger and posted about his uncanny resemblance to the James Bond star on social media.However, it was Doran's post on the exercise tracking app Strava which helped the National Crime Agency (NCA) to track him down.The NCA worked out that Doran was staying in Spain after he shared a jog in the resort town of Estepona on Strava. Doran's perceived resemblance to Mr Craig also gave officers an idea of what he might look like.Doran was later arrested by Spanish police before he was extradited back to the UK in October last year.He appeared at Newcastle Crown Court last December where Doran, who is originally from Kirkby in Merseyside, admitted drugs importation charges.Last week he was sentenced to 18 years in prison. The combined street value of the cocaine smuggled by Doran was estimated at 18million Doran admitted being part of a plot to smuggle cocaine into the UK inside gas canisters.Between October 2019 and April 2020, 12 gas bottles were collected by vehicles from locations in Chatham, Kent, Corby and Northampton, and Peterborough. Each bottle contained between 12 and 16 kilos of cocaine. In total, over 172 kilos of the Class-A drug were seized.Doran played a pivotal role in the scheme, liaising with international criminals in the Netherlands and with Kevin Taylor, 44, from Newcastle upon Tyne.He also instructed Taylor to collect and move large sums of money from drugs sales in the North East, organising the cash's transfer south and abroad for further drugs importations.Taylor was jailed for 27 years in September 2025.In a separate crime, Doran also arranged for the importation of 42 kilos of cocaine from the Netherlands between March and June 2020.The combined street value of both schemes was estimated at £18million.
