Burglars looted ornaments, the donation box and the CCTV DVR from a temple in Hyderabad, with police probing suspicions that the thieves were familiar with the premises.All the gold ornaments adorning the deity were looted.Gold ornaments, silver jewellery, the donation box and other valuables worth over Rs 20 lakh were stolen from a temple on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Monday night, police and temple authorities said.According to the Sri Sri Sri Pochamma Temple in Khanapur, the burglars broke into the temple and decamped with gold ornaments adorning the presiding deity, silver jewellery, the donation box containing devotees' cash offerings, and other valuable items.In an apparent attempt to destroy evidence, the burglars also took away the digital video recorder (DVR) connected to the temple's CCTV surveillance system.The temple committee estimated the total value of the stolen property at over Rs 20 lakh. Committee members suspect the theft may have been carried out by individuals familiar with the temple's layout, as the intruders appeared to know the location of the valuables as well as the surveillance equipment. A complaint has been lodged with the Narsingi Police, who have registered a case and launched an investigation.
