A woman passenger from Pariyaram lost a bag containing ₹15,000 in cash and gold ornaments worth around ₹9 lakh in a theft aboard the Yeshwanthpur-Kannur Express. Railway police have registered a case and launched an investigation based on a complaint filed by Grace Francis of Thondannur, Pariyaram.The theft occurred while the train was travelling from Hosur to Kannur. According to the complaint, the incident took place around 3.45 a.m. as the train was nearing Podanur. Grace was asleep in the reserved S5 coach when the vanity bag kept near her head was stolen.The stolen bag contained around 8.75 sovereigns of gold ornaments, including a necklace and waist chain, valued at approximately ₹9 lakh, besides ₹15,000 in cash. The passenger immediately alerted railway staff, but the suspect could not be traced. After alighting at Kannur, she lodged a complaint with the Railway police and the latter have begun an investigation.
