'God of War Laufey' Footage Officially Reveals New Gameplay, Physical Edition

The latest snippet from Sony shows the game’s protagonist, Faye, pulling off Devil May Cry-style air combos as she chains double jumps, kicks, and sword slashes before whipping out her new weapon, the Serpent Bow. It looks rad as hell. The blog post revealing the weapon explains that the Serpent Bow can be notched and fired at “lightning speed,” letting her keep enemies suspended in the air for follow-up strikes. When you fully hold down the trigger, Faye will take precise aim at a foe, increasing her projectiles' range and letting her strike specific body parts to impair her enemies. By half-pressing the trigger, Faye enters “a more mobile hip-fire stance,” which lets her unleash a cluster of arrows at close range and keep combos going. The Serpent Bow can also be customized. There are various arrow types, like rapid fire, explosive, and multi-target. The bow can be equipped with different Scales that change the look and come with a unique perk. Beyond this, Faye can customize her other weapons, like her sword and Catalyst artifacts that enable different kinds of magic. Santa Monica also revealed God of War Laufey’s pre-order bonuses for the game's Feb. 16, 2027 release. Pre-orders begin on Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. local time. The base edition gets a few pre-order bonuses, including the Last Wish armor set, a cosmetic for your cube companion Phranque, and an in-game resource pack. The digital deluxe edition includes a full Dark Alchemy loadout, including armor, a blade, bow, and Catalyst. It also comes with a digital mini artbook and the game’s soundtrack.
