French broadcaster pulls replay after actress calls Israel genocide

French public broadcaster France Télévisions has removed the online replay of a France 5 programme after actress Adèle Haenel used the broadcast to say that Israel’s was committing a genocide on Palestinians and France was complicit. In a video shared by Quds News Network, Haenel appeared on La Grande Librairie on 9 September and used a closing segment to call for sanctions against Israel and freedom for Palestine. She said her team recorded the segment because they expected her remarks to be edited out, but France Télévisions instead removed the entire replay from its website, according to QNN. The broadcaster said the replay was removed because Haenel’s remarks on Palestine were not counterbalanced by an opposing viewpoint during the programme.
