Welcome Back, Space Drama Live on Steam, Star Dynasties is an RPG that draws on multiple sci-fi inspirations, with hundreds of variables to account for in a massive universe. Pawley Games pitches it in a way that makes perfect sense: "Take the reins of a feudal dynasty in a divided galaxy following the destruction of Earth. Star Dynasties is a turn-based, procedurally generated narrative of human drama and personal politics, mixed with a light empire management layer. Your choices. Your legacy." Glen Pawley, developer of Star Dynasties, had this to say about the game: "It's set in a regressive future, after the destruction of Earth. It mixes this lightweight empire management strategy layer with an emergent narrative of human drama...their biggest enemy turns out to be each other." Now, after a few centuries, civilization has stabilized, but more powerful houses have dominated the colonies and become the "Leading Houses" that form factions. As the player, you'll lead a house, taking a turn that represents six months in game time. Your options include personal and political actions, and the "hundreds of characters" within the game take their turn, and you get to see the "important slice" of what happens. It has "mostly positive" reviews, with some citing that it has similarities to Crusader Kings: "Think Game of Thrones, but in space. Just like the famous Crusader Kings series (and its very famous Game of Thrones mod), you play a lord, but of entire star systems rather than lands and castles of an area. That's right, you can now spread your Habsburg/Valyrian spawn around the galaxy." Others note that the event pool is small, but they enjoyed the game while it lasted: "Within a single ruler's lifetime I had already seen most of the event pool. Once my heir took over, I found myself encountering the same events, the same feast activities, and the same requests over and over again. What initially felt like an emergent storytelling sandbox gradually revealed itself to be a relatively small collection of scenarios repeated in different contexts."
