Sign in to your ScreenRant account The date of Grand Theft Auto 6's inevitable PC release is a mystery that no one yet has an answer to, but the man who would know the most has now offered an update on the game's PC plans. To date, Rockstar still hasn't directly announced a PC version, with fans simply assuming it's bound to happen at some point in the future. Unlike other major studios, Rockstar has stuck to a tradition of releasing its flagship games on consoles first and PC later, making it easier to achieve the necessary polish at launch and building hype around two separate release dates. While that might feel like it deprioritizes the PC audience, it now sounds like PC is more important to the company than ever. In an annual investor meeting, Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive, addressed a question about limited PS5 Pro supply and whether it would have a bearing on PC plans. Zelnick interpreted this as "a question regarding the cadence of PC launches" and noted that Take-Two's general strategy is "to launch for any platforms for which there's a meaningful audience." While he follows this by noting that this strategy could change for any platform that is no longer viable, PC clearly doesn't fall into that trap. Zelnick added that "the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time," seemingly confirming that it's a priority for the future of Grand Theft Auto 6. This doesn't provide an answer as to when a PC port will launch, but it's the closest thing we have to an official confirmation that it will, in fact, be ported to PC. It also suggests that Rockstar doesn't plan to kick the can years down the line. If the PC platform is an increasingly important emphasis for Take-Two Interactive, it stands to reason that GTA 6 will target a turnaround that matches or beats the port timing of past titles. With some luck, that could bring GTA 6 to PC in 2027. Red Dead Redemption 2's PC port took slightly over a year, while Grand Theft Auto 5's took closer to a year and a half. The scope of Grand Theft Auto 6 could make this port even more challenging, so there's no guarantee that it will arrive before 2028, but it's encouraging to know that Zelnick has PC on his mind.
