DeNgohe spent two years with James Madison, including Bob Chesney’s first year with the program, before transferring to Rutgers for the 2025 season. He talked about the injury he suffered at Rutgers, and then re-entering the Transfer Portal and being welcomed with open arms by Chesney at UCLA. He also talked about why picking UCLA, and moving 3000 miles away, wasn’t the end of the world for him, and that his mom actually was a proponent of the move despite Darold moving so far away because of how much she likes the staff. DeNgohe isn’t a stranger to big moves — he grew up in Cameroon and lived there until he was nine, and he talked about his upbringing, which included his mom moving early to the USA when he was six, and his grandma pitching in to help out when his mom was away. He talked about being a soccer player early on in Cameroon, but transitioning to football (despite some protests from his mom) once he hit middle school in the USA.
