AMANDA STAVELEY is close to buying a stake in West Ham. The ex-Newcastle director, alongside her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi, is leading a consortium set to buy the Gold family’s 25.1% stake in the Hammers. SunSport understands the pair were guests of the venue rather than West Ham themselves, and were sat in the directors’ box. The Times reports the Staveley-led consortium hopes to restore West Ham’s Premier League status and could even buy the London Stadium. Their plan would also include ‘significant’ transfer investment, hoping to revive the club’s fortunes after a dismal 2025/26 season saw them relegated to the Championship. Any Staveley investment remains subject to a ‘pre-emption process’, which means existing shareholders would get first refusal on buying the shares. Among those shareholders is Czech tycoon Daniel Kretinsky, who holds a 43% stake in the club. Royal Mail owner Kretinsky is set to become the majority shareholder, after last month striking a deal to buy a further 16% in the Hammers from the Gold family. David Sullivan remains the largest shareholder as it stands, with a 38.8% stake, though he could be forced to sell up with the independent football regulator investigating his position following allegations of sexually exploitative and predatory behaviour.
