EMMERDALE has been rocked by an unexpected death as a Dingles legend loses their cancer battle after eight years on the show. In upcoming scenes on the ITV1 soap, the iconic clan gathers to say goodbye to Monty the dog following his death to the disease. The Dingles discovered Monty’s cancer after Cain’s son Kyle (Huey Quinn) set fire to a shed that the pet pooch was trapped in. He managed to survive the fire but after being checked over by the vets, the family were told the devastating news. Cain decided he wanted to do everything he can to help Monty survive which caused a light bulb moment to happen for him. He realised that this is how his family must feel about him as he reconsidered getting treatment for himself. In scenes set to air next week, Cain asks Kyle if he would like Moira (Natalie J Robb) to adopt him. But before Kyle can share his thoughts, Sam (James Hooton) interrupts and reveals something is terribly wrong with Monty. Cain is determined that Monty is to be saved as their going through the exact same thing but after he sees the dog sleeping on Zak’s grave, he realises it’s time to let him go. He shares the news with the family before taking Monty for one final visit to the vets. The pooch is sent off to doggy heaven as Cain consoles his sons Kyle and Isaac. Isaac comes up with the idea of having a proper send-off for Monty, in the form of the funeral. But will Monty’s passing finally change Cain’s attitude to saving himself?
