Egypt, Turkey wrap up joint ‘Golden Eagle’ military exercise

Egypt and Turkey have concluded the joint military exercise “Golden Eagle” involving Egyptian paratroopers and Thunderbolt (Sa’aka) Forces units alongside Turkish special forces, following several days of training. The final phase of the exercise featured an operation to storm a terrorist stronghold inside a residential area using helicopters, during which participating forces rescued hostages and apprehended terrorist elements. The exercise included a series of standard and advanced live-fire drills, training in clearing enclosed rooms, vertical assault operations using an aircraft simulator, procedures for dealing with improvised explosive devices, first aid and life-saving techniques, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles and counter-drone tactics, free-fall training in a vertical wind tunnel simulator, and operational free-fall parachute jumps. The participating troops also carried out the traditional “Friendship Jump” while carrying the flags of both countries, demonstrating the high level of proficiency and technical skills achieved by the forces taking part in the exercise. The final phase was attended by Egyptian and Turkish top military brass, as well as the Turkish military attaché in Cairo. Back to top button
