EA is bringing back boxing series Fight Night after 15 years

| Games News Writer Published October 21, 2026 12:15pm Updated October 21, 2026 12:20pm Back in the ring (EA) Boxing game franchise Fight Night is about to make a comeback, although it’s unclear in what capacity. EA continues to knock out annual titles for many of its sports franchises, including EA Sports FC and NHL, but others have been left on the shelf. For example, there hasn’t been a golf game since 2023’s EA Sports PGA Tour, while this year the company decided to release a 2026 season DLC pack for F1 2025 instead of a new entry. For boxing game fans, the retirement of the Fight Night series is a particular sore point, as it was always considered one of EA’s best. However, after 15 years, EA has announced the series is re-entering the ring. On Tuesday (October 20), a new social media account for the Fight Night series popped up on X, with its first post announcing the series’ return. ‘To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back,’ the post reads, alongside a picture of some hanging boxing gloves. There are no details on whether this is a new console game, a remake, or a horrible mobile experiment, but we imagine it’ll be a proper new entry – unless EA actively wants to upset everybody. The last game in the series was 2011’s Fight Night Champion for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Since then, EA has largely focused on the EA Sports UFC series, which received a new entry in June this year. In the past, legendary boxers like Mike Tyson, Anthony Joshua, and Tyson Fury have been included as special unlockable fighters in the UFC series, in an attempt to fill the boxing gap. It’s unclear why they’re bringing back Fight Night now, but this comes after EA’s buyout by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). Saudi Arabia has invested heavily into boxing and UFC over recent years, so it’s not hard to draw a connection with that. There’s no indication of when a new game could be revealed, but based on EA’s usual rollout for sports games, it could be released next year. Will it have the same impact?
