DOH advises public to prepare emergency go bag, due to habagat, Kiyapo

INQUIRER FILE PHOTO MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday advised the public to prepare an emergency go bag for their families and take precautionary measures due to the possible impacts brought by the southwest monsoon and Tropical Storm Kiyapo. In an earlier post, the agency said that this shall include: clean drinking water, ready-to-eat food, first aid kit, toiletries, clothes, powerbank, flashlight, raincoat, and important documents. Charge electronic devices, including powerbanks Make sure that doors and windows are always closed Organize household items If possible, turn off electricity and liquefied petroleum gas when house is already flooded Call the National Emergency Hotline or 911 in case of emergency “Be informed of the situation and wait for the advisory of your local government for proper steps at times like this,” DOH said in Filipino. READ: PCG suspends sea travel in Zambales due to rough seas According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration, the center of Kiyapo made landfall over Camiguin Islands, Calayan, Cagayan at 2:10 p.m. on Friday. It was last located over the coastal waters of Camiguin Islands as of 2 p.m. It gained strength as it was now carrying maximum wind speed of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 115 kph.
