DIANE Abbott is poised to be let back into Labour under Andy Burnham, The Sun understands. A year-long internal disciplinary probe into her antisemitism row is reaching its final stages and is expected to recommend her suspension be lifted. The comments saw her suspended by Sir Keir Starmer, who then readmitted her in time to stand in the general election. She was then “administratively suspended” once again last year after doubling down on her previous remarks. Ms Abbott is the longest-serving MP in the Commons, having first been elected to represent Stoke Newington, and currently sits as an independent. While her party membership is expected to be reinstated, it will be up to chief whip Anneliese Midgley to let her sit as a Labour MP. But a Labour source told the Sun: “Once she has her membership back I’d imagine Andy will give her the whip back pretty sharpish. “Keir waited months before doing it the first time, but the new regime want to keep people onside.” Most read in The Sun Other suspended Labour MPs are also expecting decisions on their fate. Outspoken Karl Turner was booted out of the Parliamentary Labour Party for repeatedly attacking Sir Keir’s plans to reduce jury trials.
