Derby issue update on Henrik Meister after striker collapsed with nobody around him in Birmingham clash

The 22-year-old Dane was involved in a clash of heads in the second half of their 2-1 defeat before falling to the turf. Derby have now issued an update on the player and said he was able to leave Pride Park without help despite initial worries over his condition. A club statement read: “A positive update on Henrik. “The forward was checked over by the club’s medics after being carried off on a stretcher early in the second half. “Thankfully, he walked out of the stadium unaided following the final whistle. He will now follow the concussion protocols.” Boss John Eustace said Meister “seems OK” and confirmed the club would follow concussion protocols. He added: “To lose him just after half-time was tough. It was difficult, but he’s OK now. Most read in Sport “He’s having concussion protocols. We’ll just have to see how he is. I’ve been speaking to him and he seems OK.” Meister was making his first home start for John Eustace’s side after being handed his debut in a 3-0 Championship defeat at West Ham last weekend. The score was level at 1-1 at the time of Meister’s withdrawal. Bobby Clark had fired the Rams in front on 40 minutes. But Blues levelled via Carlos Vicente barely two minutes later. Birmingham boss Chris Davies turned to Paik Seung-ho on the hour mark, replacing Jhon Solis. And it proved to be an inspired decision, with Paik giving his side the lead just four minutes later.
