Ashok accused the Congress dispensation of failing to protect the interests of the State. “People of the State are sure to take to streets to fight if Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar releases Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu during this crisis period of drought at the behest of the Congress high command to please the TVK government that is part of the INDIA alliance,” he remarked.He accused Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Water Resources Minister Ramalinga Reddy of ignoring the repeated requests by the BJP to be prepared to present effective arguments to protect the State’s interests with respect to river Cauvery.Stating that it is the responsibility of the State government to convince the Cauvery Water Management Authority of the factual situation through accurate statistics regarding storage and rainfall, he demanded that the Chief Minister should immediately hold a meeting of legal experts and officials to file an appeal before the CWMA against the order of the CWRC.
