EXCLUSIVE: Currents Management has signed contestants from Love is Blind, The Bachelorette and Dancing with the Stars, and unveiled the hire of JT Wolkiewicz. The latest additions to the talent management company’s roster include unscripted stars Giannina Gibelli (Love is Blind), Blake Horstmann (The Bachelorette) and Blake McGrath (Dancing With the Stars), lifestyle content Taylor McGrath and five comedians – Eric D’Alessandro, Kevin Spies (Grill Guy), Rob & Ari Slone (Dove Clubb) and Erik Naggy. D’Alessandro joins Currents after previously being represented by WME. Coming from the entertainment, beauty and lifestyle categories are Lauren Perez, Logan Conover, Loren Lott and Jazmine Robinson. Watch on Deadline L.A.-based Currents is positioning itself as a talent management firm that works at the border of the digital media and traditional entertainment worlds. As such, it has brought on board Wolkiewicz, who has experienced across unscripted television, entertainment, lifestyle, fashion and digital media. He was previously an independent management roster and will work alongside the broader Currents team to build the unscripted, entertainment and digital talent divisions. Currents roster already includes the likes of Alexandra Madison and Jon Bouffard, Dave Ogleton, and Micah and Sarah Wallace, who focus on building audiences and original IP through social-first formats. Currents says the signings to its comedy roster reflect “a broader shift in how comedic talent is developing careers and building audiences,” adding that, “Rather than waiting for traditional Hollywood to discover them, a new generation of comedians is using social platforms to develop recurring characters, sketch worlds and repeatable formats, effectively creating their own development pipelines and proving audience demand before entering traditional entertainment.” The agency will aid with podcasts, touring, publishing, television and other formats, and look to turn their digita audiences and creator-owned IP into durable entertainment businesses. “Currents is continuing to grow, but we’re being very intentional about where we’re building,” said Cameron Ajdari, so-founder and CEO of Currents. “We’re excited about the caliber of talent we’re bringing into the company. This includes our new manager, JT, who brings strong relationships and experience across unscripted, entertainment and digital talent, and is instrumental in growing these areas of the business. “We’re seeing incredible talent from traditional entertainment increasingly look at digital as a fundamental part of their careers, while digital talent is creating businesses that look more and more like traditional entertainment companies. Currents is uniquely positioned at that intersection to support talent interested in expanding on and off digital platforms.” “I’ve spent my career focused on relationships and helping talent identify where their careers can go next,” Wolkiewicz. “Joining Currents gives me the opportunity to expand that work across entertainment, unscripted and celebrity talent while tapping into a team with the capabilities to build businesses around talent in a much deeper way.” His roster includes Gibelli, whose career expanded following her appearance on Love is Blind, as well as Horstmann, Perez and Conover. He has focused on long-term brand partnerships, new ventures and the launch of the He Said G Said podcast for Gibelli, while also guiding Conover’s evolution from dog-focused content into a broader lifestyle brand. “Digital isn’t a category anymore,” said added Ajdari. “It’s becoming the infrastructure for how talent builds a career. We’re building Currents from that foundation. That means bringing together exceptional talent across entertainment and digital while giving them the management, strategy and infrastructure to build something much bigger than their social presence.”
