COLE PALMER is set to return to the England squad after recapturing his form this season. The Chelsea star, 24, was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad in the summer after below-par performances for his club last term. He is expected to be rewarded with a recall when Tuchel announces his squad on Friday for the four upcoming Nations League clashes against Spain, Croatia, and the Czech Republic home and away. The pair were part of a four-man group that joined the senior team for their pre-World Cup prep camp, with Ngumoha making his debut aged just 17 as a sub in 1-0 friendly win over New Zealand in Florida. Tuchel is NOT expected to pick an expanded squad for this revamped, three-week international break. His German counterpart Jurgen Klopp has gone for a massive 44-man Die Mannschaft contingent with four games to play. But Tuchel is set to go with a selection of around 25-26 players, like he usually does. That is barring the 35-man squad he picked for the March friendlies against Uruguay and Japan, where he gave final auditions for a number of players ahead of the World Cup. Tuchel, who was heavily criticised for his defensive tactics in that last-four defeat, will be without a number of players who he took to America due to injury. John Stones is sidelined due to a thigh injury, while Inter Milan team-mate Djed Spence and fellow centre-back Dan Burn are yet to play at all this season due to respective fitness issues. Goalkeeper Dean Henderson is sidelined with an ankle injury and with neither Nick Pope nor Aaron Ramsdale playing at the moment, Coventry stopper Carl Rushworth could be in line for a first call-up as support to Jordan Pickford and James Trafford. Tuchel hinted on Wednesday he may look to refresh his squad with some new young faces.
