This is the chilling moment an Islington voyeur was caught filming through a woman's window on his phone as the father-of-two was convicted of taking hundreds of videos and pictures of women in their own homes. Anthony Durkan, 35, dressed in black and wearing a balaclava as he prowled the streets of Islington, lurking outside victims' homes so he could film them through their windows in the dead of night.In January 2026, a woman contacted police to say Durkan had been repeatedly turning up outside her home to film her.He was seen holding his mobile phone up to windows, seemingly recording inside, before walking away. The incidents were captured on the neighbour's doorbell camera.Weeks later, officers were called to another address in Islington, after another woman reported that she had also spotted a man recording her through her window.She confronted Durkan and he fled immediately. Again the incident was captured on a security camera.Durkan was finally caught in the act by a plainclothes police officer on March 26 and arrested.When Durkan was apprehended, he was wearing a black hoody, carrying a cigarette and phone in his hands.When the plainclothes officer told him that he had been arrested on suspicion of voyeurism, he replied with a bemused response implying he didn't understand what this meant.Edward Kalber, prosecuting, said Durkan was filming his victims in their homes 'in various states of undress'. Body-worn video issued by Metropolitan Police showing the arrest of Anthony Durkan Durkan filming on a mobile phone through a window of one of his victims Kalber said Durkan, who is a father of two, 'poses a real risk to women and girls in our communities'.Police found a hidden gallery on his mobile phone containing hundreds of images and videos of women.This evidence enabled police to link Durkan to offences dating back to 2020 and they are working to identify further victims.Durkan, of Corporation Street, Islington, admitted 26 charges of voyeurism at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court.In the police interview, in relation to findings on Durkan's digital devices, the interviewer said: '162 videos and 99 photos with the exception of maybe 3 images, every image or video is footage or an image taken of a female who appears to be unaware that she is being filmed.' He will be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on a date to be set.Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger, whose team led the investigation, said: 'Durkan's offending represented a serious and sustained course of predatory behaviour, deliberately targeting women who were entirely unaware they were being filmed, without their consent and in the privacy of their own homes. Their reports, supported by witnesses and swift investigative work, enabled officers to act decisively and arrest Durkan during a proactive patrol.'This conviction reflects the severity of these crimes and means a dangerous individual has been removed from the streets of London, preventing further harm to women.'A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: 'Examination of Durkan's seized devices uncovered extensive evidence of further voyeurism offences, prompting detectives to review historic crime reports where no suspect had been identified and all viable lines of enquiry exhausted.'This led to Durkan being linked to offences dating back to January 2020. Detectives are now working to identify additional victims.'Officers are particularly keen to hear from women in Islington and north London between January 2020 and March 2026 who may have noticed unusual activity around their home, especially late at night or in the early hours of the morning.'Members of the public are also asked to report suspicious behaviour, such as someone lingering near residential properties, looking through windows, or using a phone or camera.'Footage captured on doorbell or CCTV cameras could prove vital.'
