(Representative Image/File)Chennai Mayor R Priya has approached the city police alleging a sustained online smear campaign in which unidentified persons circulated morphed and obscene videos, defamatory posts and abusive content on social media to tarnish her reputation.In a complaint submitted to Chennai Police Commissioner A Amal Raj, Priya said the harassment had continued over the past few days, leaving her mentally distressed. She alleged that those behind the campaign closely tracked her social media activity, posted derogatory comments and circulated morphed images and videos to malign her public image.Seeking strict action under cybercrime laws, the Mayor met Commissioner Amal Raj in person and requested that those responsible be identified and prosecuted.Following the complaint, Commissioner Amal Raj directed the Cyber Crime Wing to investigate the case. Officials are examining social media posts, digital evidence and account activity to identify those responsible for creating and circulating the alleged content.The complaint names several social media accounts that Priya claims were involved in spreading the objectionable material. These include X handles @tn_troll_syndicate_, @bhuvanesh_muthu, @arasialalasaltn, @dubai_tvk, @ivan_cm_thambi_bro, @tvk_erode_annamalai, @fathima_tvk, @nivethhaaaaa, @jsmani50, @tvk_virtual_warrior_46 and @tvk_it_wing_vignesh.
