Now, visitors will be able to witness 200 LED drones illuminate the skies above the seafront in a routine organised by international drone company, Lumina. Chief executive of Visit Great Yarmouth, Asa Morrison, has insisted that the “show will go on” this evening. “We are all thrilled to be able to put on unique entertainment for the thousands of people looking forward to spending their Wednesday evening on the seafront enjoying the vibrant fun family atmosphere and all that our businesses have to offer”, Morrison continued. Organisers were also forced to cancel the Big Tuesday Night Fireworks on Hemsby Beach last night, and are set to update visitors about the upcoming events in due course. Around 5,000 visitors flock to Norfolk’s famous Golden Mile beach every Wednesday of the summer holidays to enjoy an evening of live entertainment, street food and performances. The decision was prompted by ongoing national wildfire concerns across the country, with over 1,000 recorded in England and Wales this year. Most read in The Sun Millions of Brits received a phone alert on Friday warning of a “very high risk of wildfires” and urging them not to light barbecues, campfires, or fireworks. Earlier this week, organisers of Britain’s biggest summer firework show in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, were forced to postpone the event until April to manage any wildfire risks. Tonight, however, visitors will be able to catch a glimpse of the 200-powered drone show at 10pm, alongside an AeroSPARX coloured smoke plane display at dusk. Chairman of Visit Great Yarmouth, Nathan Race, said: “Big Wednesdays are a much-loved part of the summer in Great Yarmouth and we know how much they mean to our visitors, residents and businesses. “We are delighted to have found such an exciting alternative at very short notice.” Comment now
