Business Moves: Miller Launches Miller Malaysia, Building Regional Footprint; MNK Group Buys Danish Insurer ETU Forsikring

Miller, the London-based independent specialist re/insurance broker, announced its continued expansion in Asia with the launch of Miller Malaysia. Building on its established presence across the region, Miller Malaysia’s initial offering under its Labuan license will focus on treaty and facultative reinsurance, with plans to broaden its product capabilities over time. The launch represents a further milestone in Miller’s accelerating Asian growth strategy, following the opening of Miller Korea in January 2025 and the acquisition of Japanese broker Lead Insurance Services in 2022. With key talent already secured in the region, including Jo Garnett and Hui Sin Low, and additional new talent joining in late 2026, Miller said, it is well positioned to deepen client relationships and pursue further growth opportunities in this important insurance market. “Malaysia is a significant Asian market, and I am incredibly excited to be reestablishing the Miller brand in the region. We continue to be one of the fastest-growing players in Asia, building on milestones such as the launch of Miller Korea and our diversification into Japanese non-marine lines,” commented Ron Whyte, head of Asia at Miller, in a statement. “With Miller Malaysia, we are continuing to demonstrate real momentum as we extend the scope and reach of our market-leading specialist capabilities.” *** MNK Group Buys Danish Insurer ETU Forsikring MNK Group, the independent, international insurance group, has completed the acquisition of 100% of ETU Forsikring A/S, a Danish non-life insurer authorized since 2006 and headquartered in Rødekro, Southern Jutland, following approval from the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finanstilsynet). MNK Group said its priority is to strengthen ETU as a Danish insurer by committing new capital to the business and growing its existing Danish and Nordic franchise, while continuing to serve ETU’s policyholders and distribution partners. ETU becomes MNK Group’s first dedicated risk carrier in the European Union, and over time MNK intends to develop the company into a hub for its wider European operations, with further lines of business to follow, subject to regulatory approval. ETU already holds freedom-of-services passports into Sweden and Norway, and into Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Greece and Malta. ETU is authorized across 11 non-life classes, including property (fire and other damage), general liability, motor, marine hull and liability, goods in transit (cargo), accident, legal expenses and assistance. For brokers, coverholders and capacity partners in Denmark, the Nordics and across the EU and EEA, the acquisition means access to a Solvency II-regulated carrier backed by MNK Group’s specialist underwriting expertise, its Lloyd’s broking capability and its global network of MGAs, the company said. The Danish carrier joins a group whose operations span the United Kingdom, continental Europe, the United States, Latin America, Bermuda, the Middle East and Asia, reinforcing MNK Group’s position as a global specialist platform for niche and complex risks. “We are delighted to welcome ETU into the MNK Group family. Denmark combines a highly respected regulatory environment with genuine leadership in digital adoption, and our first commitment is to ETU’s Danish policyholders and partners: to build a stronger, well-capitalized insurer serving Denmark and the Nordic region,” commented Manoj Kumar, founder and group CEO of MNK Group, in a statement. . “From that foundation, ETU gives us a regulated EU carrier from which we can expand our capabilities, strengthen our partnerships and deliver more for clients across Europe,” Kumar added. “This acquisition reflects a long-term commitment, and we look forward to building our presence locally and deepening our relationships across the Nordics and the wider European market.” About MNK Group London-based MNK Group is a fully independent, privately owned group operating across the insurance value chain.
