There is little she loves more than discussing her favorite TV shows with fellow fans. One day, she hopes to publish an original fantasy novel. Bridgerton's upcoming spinoff will officially tell the franchise's most important story. Netflix recently confirmed a second limited series Bridgerton spinoff is in the works, created and co-written by the legendary Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini. Rather than tell a tale of royal intrigue and familial duty like Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, the new series will instead chronicle the all-encompassing young romance between Bridgerton family matriarch Violet and her eventual husband, the late Viscount Edmund Bridgerton. After Queen Charlotte's success with its dual-timeline structure, it's likely the new show will also include multiple timelines to explore Edmund and Violet's history and how it continues to shape Violet's arc in Bridgerton's primary show. In Bridgerton season 4, Violet embarked on a romantic, sneaky, loving affair with Lady Danbury's brother, Lord Marcus Anderson. It was an opportunity for her to rediscover herself as a woman beyond being a wife and mother. In the end, that's even why they break off their engagement; Violet wants a chance to be free. Where her story is headed next remains to be seen. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story's importance to the overall franchise is undeniable. While it featured the gorgeous, star-crossed romance between Charlotte and George and the deep friendship between the Queen and Lady Danbury (which played a significant role in Bridgerton season 4), it also established Bridgerton's alternate historical timeline. Understanding Charlotte and George's love story is key to understanding the entire Ton. Even so, Violet and Edmund's relationship is even more foundational to the franchise as a whole, and Bridgerton hasn't shown nearly enough of it — yet. Violet's Love For Edmund Is The Foundation Of The Entire Bridgerton Saga Violet and Edmund's love story is why Bridgerton exists as we know it. Not just because they're the parents of the eight Bridgerton siblings, but because their lives would have looked very different if their mother had not experienced the joy and partnership of a true Regency-era love match. That love, despite Edmund's untimely passing, drives her to find the same for each of her children. More than anything, she wants them to be happy and find a life partner, a marked difference from mothers like Lady Cowper and Lady Penwood, more concerned with their daughters' and families' financial security than their happiness. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, of course; in those days, women had to fight for survival on the marriage market, in danger of being left destitute and alone, though they certainly could have handled the situation with more tact and understanding. The Bridgerton family doesn't face the same sort of pressure. Their social standing and wealth offer them more protection than other families. Still, things might have turned out very differently if Violet and Edmund had been forced into marriage rather than fallen in love. The Bridgerton family isn't entirely immune to scandal, after all, yet Mama Bridgerton stands up for her brood whenever she can. If she'd been just another mother in the Ton, calculating dowries and ranking titles, would she have cooked up a scheme for Benedict to marry someone who's technically illegitimate? Would she have given Eloise the time to find herself, acknowledging her daughter's fears about marriage and society? No doubt it will help her accept Francesca's same-sex romance with Michaela Stirling in Bridgerton season 5, as well. Violet's and Edmund's love is the foundation of the entire Bridgerton saga. Netflix Needs To Greenlight One More Bridgerton Spinoff Now that Violet is getting her own well-deserved spinoff, Netflix needs to greenlight one more limited series to complete the set. Lady Agatha Danbury has been a vital character in Bridgerton since season 1, a loyal friend and confidante to both Charlotte and Violet and a force for good in society at large. While we've seen much of young Agatha's story play out in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story — and it will undoubtedly be part of the Young Violet spinoff, too — Agatha has more than earned her time in the spotlight. While a hypothetical Agatha Danbury spinoff could focus more on Agatha's younger life, Bridgerton season 4 set up an interesting alternative. Lady Danbury is about to enjoy the adventure of a lifetime, traveling the world and returning to her homeland for the first time since she was a little girl. Not only would it be great to see the Bridgerton universe expand beyond London and the adjoining countryside — season 5 will venture to Scotland, at least — it would also give Agatha a chance to find another great love outside the confines of English high society. Though romance has once again become a dominating force in the entertainment industry, with streamers fighting for rights to dozens, if not hundreds, of reader-favorite romance books, very few adaptations feature older women finding love. Bridgerton prides itself on its diverse romances; if Violet can explore her desires with another man, why shouldn't Agatha Danbury be granted the same opportunity? She's helped so many young debutantes and suitors find love. She deserves to explore another side of herself, too, and more steamy Bridgerton goodness is always welcome. Bridgerton season 5 premieres on Netflix in 2027.
