Celebrity Traitors star demands rule change after being banished

Joe Lycett and Hannah Fry served as the show’s most recent banishments (Picture: BBC) A star of The Celebrity Traitors has demanded a change to the rules following their dramatic banishment last week. Those banished so far are Richard E. Grant, Myha’la, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Hannah Fry and Joe Lycett. Of those five, only Richard and Hannah were actual Traitors, with the other three falling victim to suspicious and overzealous Faithfuls. To be fair, Richard did himself no favours by confirming when asked, at point blank, that he was a Traitor. And it was comedian Joe who led the charge against Richard… only to shoot himself in the foot mere episodes later, getting himself banished by demanding that he be seduced by the Traitors. Following his swift banishment, Joe has jokingly demanded that the rules be changed to allow him back into the castle. Joe Lycett became the fifth celebrity to be banished from the castle (Picture: BBC) Joe’s demand that he be recruited did him no favours (Picture: BBC) Appearing on spin-off show The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, Joe was asked whether he had any words of wisdom for the remaining Faithful. Instead, the Late Night Lycett host issued a plea to the Traitors to bring him back on board. ‘I’d like to motivate the Traitors to find an unknown clause in the contract that can bring back a Faithful that’s been banished to recruit because I’m there if they want me!’ he announced. Joe had always been open about wanting to be a Traitor, ever since the first episode. This came to a head on Thursday, after the group managed to oust Hannah from the castle. Overcome with excitement, Joe bounced about the gaff demanding that he be recruited next. Joe was banished on Friday (Picture: BBC) Naturally, when it became evident the next day that someone had been recruited, all eyes fell on Joe. His round table defence coming to nought, Joe was banished by the group, coming face-to-face with host Ed Gamble on spin-off show Uncloacked. Elsewhere in the episode, Joe learned the identity of the three remaining Traitors – Maya Jama, James Acaster and King Kenny. And it was YouTuber King Kenny who was recruited in Joe’s stead, in spite of the Brummie comedian’s shameless begging. Finally Joe did offer some genuine advice, telling Ed: ‘I would say to the Faithful that they need to stop voting in a block and experiment with voting with their heart and their instincts, rather than following what happens at the Round Table, because that might reap more rewards.’ Traitors Maya Jama and James Acaster have been tasked with murdering in plain sight (Picture: BBC) Will Ross Kemp catch Maya and James in the act? (Picture: BBC) With Joe out the door, Maya, James and Kenny were then tasked with committing their next murder in plain sight. This, they must do by forcing another celebrity to yawn and then uttering the words ‘am I boring you?’ As the last episode ended, James and Maya remained in one of the castle rooms with Ross Kemp and Jerry Hall, attempting to complete their task. This involved much pantomime yawning from the pair as they attempted to get Ross or Jerry to yawn contagiously. However, this has led to fears from the fanbase that James and Maya’s theatrical yawning might clue Ross in on what they’re up to.
