He was 60.According to reports, White died on Sept. 11 just before 9:15 a.m. when he dove off a moving boat to try to save his dog that had fallen into Lake Shasta in California. People Magazine reported that the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office said it had responded to a possible drowning near the Bailey Cove Boat Launch in the lake. Police said a witness reported that White dove into the water after the dog and then began having “an unknown emergency and called for help.” Police said that a floatation device was thrown to White, and he was able to grab it, but for unknown reasons “he slipped under the water and did not resurface.”The dog survived. Authorities recovered White’s body later that afternoon. White was known for his work as the co-founder of the band Liver Cancer. He also co-founded Audible disease, a company that makes pedals, synthesizers and other musical devices, according to People. Bobby Almon, who founded Liver Cancer with White, took to Facebook to remember him.“Geordan White of Liver Cancer died yesterday in a tragic accident,” Almon wrote. “I’m still trying to process it. Rest in noise, brother. You were my brother in sound and in life. You will be deeply missed.”“I’m proud to have known Geordan,” Edward Giles wrote. “He was always cool with me. Big honest smile and a madman on the noise pedals. When I heard the word ‘accident’ I immediately thought vehicular or work related. Mr. White left Lake Shasta a hero trying to save a dog in distress wo fell out of a boat. Probably an instinct reaction to do the right thing and help out in a dire situation.
