The trailer of Batwara 1947, backed by Aamir Khan Productions, was unveiled on Tuesday, offering a glimpse into a story set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film stars Shabana Azmi, Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta in the lead roles.Set during one of the most turbulent periods in the subcontinent's history, Batwara 1947 follows a family whose lives are torn apart by violence, displacement and the upheaval of Partition. The trailer focusses on the human cost of the tragedy while highlighting themes of compassion, resilience and hope amid widespread conflict.Sunny Deol plays a man determined to stand by his principles despite the violence around him. Shabana Azmi plays an elderly woman who becomes a source of strength for her family, while Preity Zinta portrays a woman trying to keep her loved ones together during the crisis.The trailer also introduces the film's large-scale recreation of the Partition era, as it showcases migration, communal unrest and the emotional impact of families being separated. Alongside the lead trio, the film also stars Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh. Batwara 1947 marks the reunion of director Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol nearly three decades after they last worked together. The film's music has been composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar.
