Running under the banner of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party, the political arm of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, Midtimbang has received 59,722 votes, according to 90.33% of total election returns as of September 14, 9:29 pm. Tawakal Midtimbang enjoys a more than 50,000-vote lead over his closest competitors, Al-Ittihad-Ungaya sa Kawagib Nu Bangsamoro bet Bobby Midtimbang. Tawakal previously served as vice mayor of Guindulungan town. He is the son of Datu Midpantao Midtimbang, a former member of parliament, former vice governor of Maguindanao, and former mayor of Guindulungan.
