Bad news, Google confirms Pixel 11 and other Pixel phones will cost more

Google has officially confirmed that the Pixel 11 series will cost more than the Pixel 10 lineup. This is due to the unprecedented rise in global memory chip prices. In a recent interview, he stated that the upcoming Pixel 11 series will cost more than its predecessor. And the reason is familiar. The unprecedented surge in global memory prices that has already pushed companies from Apple, Nintendo, to Microsoft into similar price hikes.According to 9to5Google, which spoke with Barkat directly, revealed that the scale of the memory crisis is unlike anything the industry has seen before. Barkat pointed to data from Morgan Stanley showing that the price of 1GB of RAM has jumped sixfold, from $2.80 in 2025 to $12 this year. He said Google had "shielded our consumers from supply fluctuations for as long as possible," but that "the economics have fundamentally shifted and we're not immune to that."What the price increase might look likeGoogle hasn't shared exact pricing yet, saving that for its August 12 announcement, but Barkat confirmed the entire Pixel lineup will see "adjustments" that will be "rolled out dynamically to match supply realities." This applies to the Pixel 11 series as well as Google's broader hardware portfolio, including the Pixel Watch.Based on recent leaks, the base Pixel 11 is expected to start at $899, while the Pixel 10 starts at $799. And the new Pixel 11 will reportedly come with 256GB of storage instead of 128GB, a change that should soften the impact of the price increase somewhat. The Pixel 11 Pro, meanwhile, could see its starting RAM drop from 16GB to 12GB, alongside a roughly $100 price increase. The Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, on the other hand, are rumoured to see a more straightforward $100 price bump without any offsetting hardware changes.Google also indicated that the price disruption won't be limited to new devices. The company said "in-market Pixel phones" will be affected too, which likely includes the Pixel 10a, still relatively early in its lifecycle as Google's mid-range option.
