Sign in to your TheGamer account Avengers: Doomsday is starting to feel a lot more real after the epic new MCU movie got its first proper trailer this week. If you thought it might be too little too late with interest in the franchise seemingly at an all-time low, you’d be wrong. The Doomsday trailer has been watched 503 million times in 24 hours, making it one of the most-watched trailers of all time. Doomsday Trailer Hits Half A Billion Views In A Single Day That’s according to Variety, which confirmed the trailer’s incredible viewership numbers across all official platforms. Shockingly, though, there is one trailer that performed even better, and it’s another MCU project. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which hits theaters next week, had a trailer that was watched a staggering 719 million times in its first day. The Doomsday trailer’s half a billion views in 24 hours does mean it has been watched more times in a single day than any video game trailer ever. We know that because the most recent GTA 6 trailer set that record, racking up 475 million views within a day of being shared by Rockstar. Just imagine what might happen when that third trailer drops. It has to be coming any day now, right? A Lot Of Heroes Are Crammed Into The Doomsday Trailer Disney Even though we’ve been shown Doomsday teasers which confirmed the returns of Steve Rogers and select X-Men from the Fox movies, this is the first full trailer for the upcoming Marvel blockbuster. It featured 26 characters, provided we spotted everyone, including a fresh look at James Marsden’s Cyclops, Mystique battling Yelena, and the Fantastic Four getting acquainted with some other MCU heroes, presumably after joining the Sacred Timeline. We were also shown our first proper look at the MCU’s Doctor Doom, who will famously, or infamously depending on how you feel, be played by Robert Downey Jr. Although Thor is at odds with Doom throughout the new trailer, there’s a fan theory suggesting Doom might trick the assembled heroes into thinking he’s one of them. The theory stems from a shot in the trailer with a mysterious gap that looks like someone is standing there but has been edited out to avoid spoilers. GTA 6 and Doomsday getting almost one billion trailer views between them in their respective trailers’ first 24 hours shows just how big of a cultural impact the pair will have, and they’re launching so close together. GTA 6 on November 19, and Avengers: Doomsday less than a month later on December 18.
