Assassin’s Creed Next Remake Officially Teased

Sign in to your ScreenRant account It's no secret that we're very much in the remake and remaster era of video gaming right now, and that's not necessarily a bad thing on the face of it. Given that game development seems to have slowed up significantly anyway, returning to older titles with some new bells and whistles really does bring back a sense of nostalgia that you'll struggle to find with any fresh release. One of the companies who have started dipping their toes into that particular water more significantly is Ubisoft, who recently brought us Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced, a full remake of the beloved pirate classic. Now rumors are continuing to swell that another remake is on the way in relatively short order, and we might have just had a major clue as to which one it's going to be. Ubisoft As first reported by GameRant, Ubisoft has made some minor changes to the store page for the first Assassin's Creed game, including updating the banner and logo art. There's little reason to see why they would do this if they weren't planning to bring the game back to the fore in some capacity, and a remake would absolutely be the best reason for that. Ubisoft previously confirmed back in 2024 that they were working on several remakes, and thus far we've only seen Black Flag come to fruition. That means there are likely at least two more on the way at some point, with the first Assassin's Creed game set to mark the next step on that journey. It's also comfortably the best target they have for the remake treatment from the Assassin's Creed franchise it currently stands, as returning to the first game in its original form today is actually quite a jarring experience. The gameplay lags behind its successors significantly, and the visuals need an update alongside it. That said, the story is some of the best in any of the games and Altair is a very cool protagonist, so seeing both of those return with the ability to play it through a modern lens would be a genuinely exciting moment for fans. This obviously remains speculation at this juncture, so it's best to take it with a pinch of salt until we get official confirmation from the developers themselves. That said, the signs do look very positive, so you'd be well within your rights to get a little excited at this juncture. Outside of that, the next big step for the Assassin's Creed series is Hexe, a game that has supposedly changed significantly behind the scenes during development. We know witches in Medieval Europe will be at the center of its story, but beyond that, we don't know much. It's also likely still years away, so don't expect to hear too much more in the near future.
