After nearly a full year since release, Embark Studios is gearing up for the biggest update coming to Arc Raiders we've seen yet, which should add a massive boost to its currently diminished playercount. Scheduled to release on October 8, the Frozen Trail update is an absolutely massive addition to the game that not only comes with a new map and a few gameplay mechanics, but changes practically every aspect of Arc Raiders. With new weapons, enemies, upgrade mechanics, some incredibly unique gadgets, and an Arc that dwarfs even the Emperors, Frozen Trail is absolutely worth returning for thanks to all the following content in Arc Raiders' newest trailer on YouTube you can find detailed below. Arc Raiders Is Getting A New Map With An Emperor After nearly a full year of speculation on when we'll get to see the massive Arc prowling in the backdrop of every outdoor map, we'll finally get up close and personal with one in Arc Raiders' new Pendola Pass. Located further north than any of Arc Raiders' current locations, the frozen wasteland boasts a massive variety of elevation, open plains, and close-quarters areas to fight through. The frozen map will also go through periodic flash freezes just like the ones included in the Cold Snap event, forcing you to either hide indoors and wait out the storm or risk periodically ducking into them to keep your body temperature up. Of course, the biggest draw of the map itself is the massive Emperor carcass sprawling across it, which you can explore the interior of to scavenge or solve puzzles for some high-level loot, albeit with more risk from several of the new Arc coming with the update. Several Terrifying New Arc Are Approaching The Belt Frozen Trail also adds three new enemies for raiders to contend with against the already lengthy list of Arc enemies in the game, starting off with the hulking Bully. Roughly the same size as a Leaper, Bullys are an incredibly fast-moving Arc meant to wear raiders down by running at them and traversing obstacles, with an automatic turret on top and intermittent missile launches. Next up is a smaller hovering Arc with the Skukler, which chooses to float close to the ground and ambush players rather than targeting them from above. Although a weaker enemy by comparison, the main threat of Skuklers is having to keep track of where they are in a fight, as they'll run off and hide between attacks to ambush you again. The last dedicated enemy in the update is stationary Hydras, which are a new type of stationary turret enemy that attacks with three separate machine guns, which can either be directed to a single target or split between three at a single time, albeit with reduced firepower. While not an enemy you can defeat through firepower alone, Frozen Trail is also adding a brand-new event similar to the Queen, on a much more terrifying scale with the Frigate. Being a massive flying fortress above maps, Frigates are described as an end-game event that players will need to work together to sabotage from within like a "pirate ship," before ultimately destroying it and taking the incredibly rare loot from within. Arc Raiders Is Getting An Arsenal Upgrade To combat these new autonomous enemies, you'll also be equipped with two new weapons in the form of the Light Ammo Stiletto Battle Rifle meant for PvE and the Medium Bantam Pistol, which offers a lower-powered but faster-firing revolver compared to the ever-popular Anvil. While new weapons are always great to play with, the real draw of the weapon overhaul comes in the form of Amplified Weapons, which are described as a fifth gun tier that does far more than just improving their stats. Using the upgrade station from the Den, you'll be able to research and use materials to unlock new weapon upgrades that enhance specific aspects of each weapon or add entirely new features to the mix. From turning the Berletta into a fully automatic pistol, adding a scope to a Renegade, or adding Drum Magazines and Fire bullets to the Rattler, Arc Raiders will have plenty of ways to customize each weapon. A New Tether System Brings Several New Gadgets Sticking with the trend of threes, Arc Raiders will also get the same number of gameplay-related gadgets that all tie in with the engine's new tether system, allowing you to use physics against your enemies starting with the movement-based Grappling Hook. As opposed to the high-value Snap Hook, Grappling Hooks will instead require you to manually climb the rope or use momentum to swim across graps after hooking it onto a ledge. The Tether Launcher and Yank Grenades use a similar rope function, but instead for combat this time around as they let you pull enemies away from cover or into the ground by attaching them to enemies directly with the launcher or in a rough area with the grenade. On the non-combat side of things, Arc Raiders is also adding two new instruments with the Banjo and Harmonica, alongside a camera gadget that lets you take photos while customizing the aperture, effects, and even a selfie mode with emotes to capture in-game moments. Frozen Trail's Outpost Evolves From The Den Mentioned alongside the Amplified Weapons system is your very own Raider Den Outpost, which functions similarly to your private Den except for the fact that it offers a fully explorable space that you can upgrade and customize to your own preferences, which even goes as far as crafting and placing furniture. The new Outpost is also where you'll be able to build and upgrade the Weapon Station that lets you research and craft Amplified Weapon upgrades, offering a new form of in-game progression with some powerful gear as a reward. The last update coming to Arc Raiders is still a work in progress, so we don't have too many details yet, but we do know that it's a battle-pass system which will offer all cosmetics available for free, while players can pay for a premium version to unlock different color variants, hairstyles, backpacks, and legendary weapon stencils.
