A royal rider! Hard-working Princess Anne attends Burghley Horse Trials - having won the European Champion title more than 50 years ago

Princess Anne was all smiles today as she attended the Burghley Horse Trials.The Princess Royal, 76, attended the annual event in Stamford, Lincolnshire, on Sunday in her role as President of World Horse Welfare. A skilled horsewoman herself, Anne won the individual championship at Burghley in 1971 and was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year. The royal was at the event two days after her daughter Zara Tindall and son Peter Phillips attended.Peter, 48, was there with his wife Harriet Sperling, 45, and they were the picture of wedded bliss as they exchanged smiles and held hands yesterday. He was joined by Zara, an accomplished equestrian who takes part in the trials every year, their father, Captain Mark Phillips, 77, and his girlfriend Florence Standaert, 44. The Princess Royal's ex-husband has been rumoured to be dating the Belgian equestrian since 2022, with Florence also accompanying Captain Mark to Peter and Harriet's 'intimate' Cotswolds wedding in June.
