Dan's work can be seen in various publications, including Digital Trends, SportsCasting, and Tom's Guide. Throughout his career, Dan has interviewed several high-profile filmmakers and creatives, including Brendan Fraser, Jamie Lee Curtis, Caitriona Balfe, Frank Grillo, Miranda Cosgrove, Jai Courtney, Chris Columbus and James Cameron. Dan joins How-To Geek as a Senior Editor. When he's not writing about entertainment, Dan is either watching a movie or praying for the New York Knicks to win a championship. With the Emmys dominating the conversation, it's a quiet week for movies being added to streaming services. That said, I still found some fun selections to add to your watchlist this week. Hulu is adding a Fast & Furious spin-off, while Kanopy adds a gritty creature feature. The final three selections will all be on Netflix. One of the films is a comedy starring RuPaul, while another comes from Guy Ritchie. Our final pick of the week—and our top selection—is an original coming-of-age movie set in the world of dance. 5 Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw The muscular odd couple I'm an unapologetic Fast & Furious fan. It's the epitome of escapist entertainment. Has the franchise lost its direction after taking a car into space? Absolutely. That won't stop me from seeing Fast Forever when it hits theaters. Hulu is getting in on the Fast & Furious franchise by adding the lone spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw, to its library. Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) are two alpha males who don't play well with others. Unfortunately for these two, they must work together to stop super soldier Brixton Lorr (Idris Elba) from unleashing a lethal virus that would wipe out half of humanity. Hobbs & Shaw fully leans into its comedic element, as Johnson and Statham make for an entertaining odd couple. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is now streaming on Hulu. 4 Crawl Watch out for the gators Did you know that there is a free streaming service that you can access with a participating library card? Kanopy partners with public libraries and universities to give users an ad-free streaming service. This week, Kanopy is adding Crawl, a great movie that you can watch in under 90 minutes. Collegiate swimmer Haley (Kaya Scodelario) drives home to her old family home to check on her father (Barry Pepper) during a Category 5 hurricane. Upon arrival, Haley finds that her father has been injured by an alligator. Now trapped in the crawl space, Haley and her father must work quickly to escape from the alligator's wrath before the house floods. Crawl is an action-packed B-movie that packs a punch. I would watch at least five sequels. Crawl streams on Kanopy on September 18. Crawl Release Date July 11, 2019 3 Stop! That! Train! Slapstick comedy featuring RuPaul playing the president The spoof comedy is a lost art. We are a long way removed from the glory days of slapstick comedies like Airplane! and The Naked Gun. I don't have answers as to why these films went away, but they are due for a comeback. Despite its poor box office, Stop! That! Train! certainly channeled the spirit of these disaster spoofs. Friends Tess (Ginger Minj) and DeeDee (Jujubee) sneak onto the Glamazonian Express as train stewardesses. The train is heading into a dangerous storm and is expected to crash near a nuclear power plant. After the conductor goes down, it's up to Tess and DeeDee to save the day and stop the train before disaster. Stop! That! Train! embraces its camp humor and queer style to deliver a ridiculously entertaining comedy. Plus, you get to see RuPaul play the President of the United States. Stop! That! Train! streams on Netflix on September 20. Stop! That! Train! Release Date June 12, 2026 2 The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare Guy Ritchie in his bag When I watch a Guy Ritchie movie or show, I expect to see three things: colorful characters, snappy dialogue, and fast-paced action. Ritchie's most successful movies—Snatch, Sherlock Holmes, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels—all include his trademark elements. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare has all the Ritchie signatures along with a star-studded cast. During World War II, the Nazis posed a threat to the Allies on the seas because of their German U-boats. To weaken the Nazis, the British military launched Operation Postmaster, a covert mission to disrupt German U-boat supplies off the coast of Africa. The British take a chance on a group of eccentric characters led by Gus March-Phillipps (Henry Cavill) to embark on a dangerous mission. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare wasn't widely seen in theaters, but I could totally see it gaining a second life on streaming. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare streams on Netflix on September 16. 1 Best of the Best A love letter to dance I'm a sucker for a charming coming-of-age movie. There is something about watching a character grow and overcome a challenge that makes me smile. Best of the Best feels like something that will be right up my alley for anyone who likes these heartwarming stories. While attending UCLA, best friends Maya (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and Anjali (Priyanka Kedia) take a risk and join the university's Bollywood-fusion dance team. Little do the girls know that this team is super competitive, and to have a shot at the championship, they'll need to put in the work. You get elements of college life, athletic competition, and coming-of-age humor. That's a recipe for success. Best of the Best streams on Netflix on September 18. Best of the Best Release Date September 18, 2026 Director Lena Khan Writers Hasan Minhaj, Prashanth Venkataramanujam More movies and shows coming your way If you're looking for more critically acclaimed shows, check out HBO Max's Emmy-nominated shows, including A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and The Gilded Age.
