Shudder subscribers are in for an intense weekend on the streaming service, which includes a couple of classic horror movies, as well as a new Shudder original film. On last weekend's Shudder movie recommendations, I explored titles like the 2018 Halloween return and the two new 2026 horror releases, V/H/S/Mixtape and Hallowarrior, both intriguing for different reasons. I'm glad to say that all three of those horror movies remain worth watching Shudder as timely releases, as all of them are still trending on the streaming service this weekend. The lowest one on the list is V/H/S/Mixtape, which is Shudder's 3rd most popular movie right now. That said, they all make up the streamer's top three, with Halloween in 2nd and Hallowarrior in 1st (from Amazon Channels, according to FlixPatrol). For this weekend's Shudder movie recommendations, I selected only one movie that makes company to those in the Shudder Top 10 chart. The other two were recently released on the streaming service, either arriving at the start of the month, to kick off Halloween season on the right foot, or this Friday, October 23. The three horror movies to watch on Shudder this weekend range from a classic franchise that started with a TV show and then moved to the big screen, an intense horror thriller with a major star from the genre, and a new Shudder original led by a key actor from Marvel's Daredevil and Daredevil: Born Again. These are the best movies to watch on Shudder this weekend: 3 Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) First up is Twilight Zone: The Movie, which offers four different stories in an anthology format helmed by talented directors. Twilight Zone: The Movie's four segments are directed by sci-fi master Steven Spielberg, Coming to America's John Landis, Mad Max franchise creator George Miller, and Gremlins' Joe Dante. The insane amount of talent behind the cameras was matched in front of them. Twilight Zone: The Movie's cast includes names like Dan Aykroyd, John Lithgow, Albert Brooks, Vic Morrow, and more. Every story in this anthology is different from the one that came before, allowing Shudder subscribers to keep guessing what will happen next and explore different takes on horror, fantasy, and sci-fi within a 101-minute runtime. 2 The Cycle (2026) The Cycle is the only Shudder original movie on this weekend's recommendations. The new horror movie stars Daredevil: Born Again's Karen Page actress, Deborah Ann Woll. In The Cycle, Woll gives life to Dr. Meg Garland, a forensic anthropologist who teaches the police about human bodies' decomposition process in different conditions in an attempt to help unravel the mysteries behind cold cases. The Cycle was released on Shudder on Friday, October 23. The horror movie sees Meg travel to a small town to investigate a gruesome murder initially thought to be related to an animal attack. When Meg finds the body of her father, who has been missing for decades after he left his family, near the crime scene, she starts to unpack a creepy mystery with shocking twists. Law & Order's Jeffrey Donovan also stars. 1 Insidious (2011) Finally, Patrick Wilson has cemented himself as one of the most beloved actors in the horror genre in the last couple of decades. While The Conjuring universe might have grown to become the actor/director's biggest, Wilson also built a solid franchise alongside James Wan in the form of Insidious, starting with the 2011 horror movie every genre fan needs to check out on Shudder. Insidious was released on the streaming service on October 1. It finished its global box office run with nearly $100 million. The horror movie follows a married couple who has to deal with the shocking reveal that their son has become the vessel for different demons. Rose Byrne and Ty Simpkins also star, with Wan as director based on a script by Leigh Whannell (The Invisible Man). Insidious is an intense horror movie to end our Shudder weekend list. The Cycle 6/10 Release Date October 23, 2026 Runtime 111 Minutes Cast After having gone missing for 36 years, a father's remains are suddenly discovered at a gruesome crime scene.
