YSRCP, TDP engage in war of words over quartz mining in Nellore

Anil Kumar Yadav, who suddenly appeared on the district’s political landscape after a long gap, accused TDP Member of Parliament Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy of controlling the quartz mining syndicate in the district.Going a step further, he alleged the involvement of an international syndicate in the quartz mining. The YSRCP leader even displayed documents pertaining to visa correspondence and the MP’s foreign visits, demanding that the government establish their authenticity and place the facts before the public.In response, Nellore’s Deputy Mayor P. Roop Kumar Yadav rubbished the allegation, pointing out that Mr. Prabhakar Reddy had withdrawn from the quartz business long back and he had no role whatsoever in the alleged syndicate.He clarified that the MP had written to the Union Ministry of External Affairs in 2024 to assist a Chinese national with visa processing for a legitimate quartz sand processing facility proposed in Nellore at an outlay of ₹1,000 crore.Observing that the Chinese national had been doing legal trade in the district for the last 26 years, the TDP leader dismissed Mr. Anil Kumar Yadav’s allegations.Mr. Roop Yadav, a close relative of Mr. Anil Kumar Yadav, dared him to prove his ‘wild allegations’ or face public wrath.TDP Nellore district president and MLC Beeda Ravichandra debunked the allegations, saying that Mr. Anil Kumar Yadav would soon lose relevance for his ‘loose talk’.Meanwhile, former Kovur YSRCP MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy demanded that Mr. Prabhakar Reddy must clear the air on the allegations.
