During an appearance on Rio Meets during pre-season, Tielemans was asked about what training had been like under Michael Carrick. After saying he’d been in the spa, Tielemans was further quizzed if he’d had a “hard session” in the morning. The former Leicester star said: “Just sharp, that’s what it’s been like mostly.” When Ferdinand asked if there’d been “loads of running”, Tielemans grinned as he added: “No. When you come back from the World Cup, you don’t do lots of running. “Just chill.” Tielemans lasted 67 minutes on his United debut as his side laboured to defeat. During his display, Tielemans did not complete a single dribble, nor did he make a tackle. The Prem veteran missed matches during pre-season with a hamstring issue. But he was fit to appear in United’s last three friendlies. After yesterday’s disappointing result, boss Carrick refused to lose his cool. The United boss said: “I’m talking to you quite calmly, but I’m not exactly calm inside and enjoying the day, so there’s a big difference. “I played [for United] for a long time. You don’t get to play here for a long time without just going day by day, the results, the ups and downs, but you just carry on as normal. “It’s 100 per cent not that, and trust me, it’s not that. It just doesn’t mean that we all have to shout and scream and come out and create some chaos just because of it. “Inside we’re hurting and we need to get better.
