A complaint before the Mumbai Police's EOW has questioned Yes Bank's assignment of a PPIPL loan to Suraksha ARC. It seeks an FIR and scrutiny of the loan's classification, valuation, funding and bidding process.Yes Bank (Representative Image)A fresh complaint filed with the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has sought an FIR and investigation into the assignment of a Rs 600-crore loan extended by Yes Bank to Privilege Power and Infrastructure Pvt Ltd (PPIPL) and later transferred to Suraksha Asset Reconstruction Company (Suraksha ARC).The complaint, filed by suspended PPIPL director Rakesh Kumar Wadhawan, has raised questions over the loan’s classification, valuation, assignment process and funding structure. The allegations have not been independently established.LOAN ASSIGNMENT UNDER SCRUTINYAt the centre of the complaint is the allegation that the PPIPL account had not been classified as a non-performing asset (NPA) when it was assigned to Suraksha ARC.Wadhawan has also questioned why the loan, which he claimed was secured by assets and development rights valued at more than Rs 2,000 crore, was assigned when the reported outstanding dues were around Rs 213.6 crore. According to the complaint, the assignment consideration was approximately Rs 155.3 crore. Of this, around Rs 23.3 crore was reportedly paid in cash, while Rs 131.98 crore was discharged through security receipts (SRs) allegedly held by Yes Bank.QUESTIONS OVER FUND MOVEMENTThe complaint cites an internal or forensic review by Yes Bank that allegedly flagged fund movements involving entities including Fortune Integrated Assets Service Ltd, Suraksha Realty and Khyati Realtor Pvt Ltd. It also points to an alleged Rs 100-crore increase in Fortune Integrated Assets Service’s cash-credit limit shortly before the assignment.Wadhawan has asked the EOW to examine whether the transaction involved circular movement of funds and whether the assignment followed an independent valuation and transparent bidding process.SURAKSHA ARC’S VOTING SHARE QUESTIONEDThe complaint has also raised questions over Suraksha ARC’s voting share in PPIPL’s Committee of Creditors, alleging that it increased from around 23.39 per cent to 35.99 per cent.Wadhawan has sought scrutiny of bank statements, audit reports, valuation records, bidding documents, the assignment agreement and regulatory approvals. An EOW investigation, if initiated, will determine whether the alleged transactions took place as claimed and whether any legal or regulatory violations occurred.- EndsPublished On: Aug 20, 2026 21:57 IST
