In recent months, Xbox has been in our good books, at least compared to its PlayStation competitor. Set to welcome Hideo Kojima's highly anticipated IP, Physint, as well as reports that it is currently working on the next Xbox generation titled Project Helix, it is an exciting time to be an Xbox fan. However, the good news does not end there, as from now until 11 October, Xbox is giving its users the chance to grab seven games for absolutely free. The catch is that some of them will require an Xbox Game Pass subscription, whilst others are a timed trial only. However, this gives you the perfect excuse to try before you buy, especially as they all come alongside a steep discount as part of the Free Play Days event. So, if you are looking for something new to play and do not want to spend a single penny, look no further than the Xbox Store. 7 Screamer In this high-octane racing game with anime graphics, players can expect "fighting mechanics and a story that hits hard." First released back in March, Screamer introduces a twist to the racing genre as players take to a world where some race for glory, and others race to seek power or even revenge. As such, every race is a fight for survival and every battle is personal. Receiving positive reviews at launch, this thrilling racing game is definitely an underrated gem of 2026. 6 Family Man In this 2020 adventure RPG, expect a whole lot of crime and violence as you push the limits of your morality and take on questionable deeds in order to protect your family. Family Man is a dark, story-led RPG first released back in 2020 that will see you owe money to the mob, and you have just three weeks to earn it or your body may be found in the nearest river. No pressure. Take on dirty jobs, help the locals, and most importantly, do not get caught in a world where your choices can affect the very outcome of the story. 5 ARC Raiders One of 2025's most talked about titles is now available to try for free as players experience PvP and PvE combat in this hit extraction shooter. ARC Raiders is still alive and well as players team up, or go it alone, to fight for resources and most importantly, get out alive in order to secure the best loot, make upgrades, and then do it all over again. With positive reviews upon launch, and multiple updates added over the past year, there has never been a better time to get stuck into this hit extraction shooter as it celebrates its first anniversary. 4 High on Life 2 Released back in February, High on Life 2 takes place in a world where an intergalactic conspiracy threatens everybody's fate, but luckily, you will get to team up with a group of alien guns to stab, shoot and skate your way through exotic and colorful environments to take down the bad guys and save humanity itself. With stunning environments, a lot of chaos and hours of fun to be had, High on Life 2 is a game you must experience for yourself. 3 Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl As the fourth main title in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl released back in 2024 and saw players enter the Chornobyl Anomalous Zone in order to fight anomalies, mutants, and fellow survivors. In this post-apocalyptic FPS, you will need to explore, scavenge and, most importantly, survive in a bleak landscape and an environment that tries to fight back at every opportunity. With a recent overhaul thanks to Version 2.0, now is the perfect time to get stuck in, and Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is available on Xbox as part of a timed trial. 2 Little Nightmares III As the third installment in the cute, yet horrifying, atmospheric adventure game, you will take on the role of Low and Alone, two best friends who must work together to escape the Nowhere. Released back in October 2025, Little Nightmares III can be played solo with an AI companion, or with a friend, as you work together to solve puzzles and escape nightmarish creatures who will do anything to stop your escape. It may not be considered the best entry in the franchise, but being free as part of a timed trial will give you the perfect opportunity to make your own mind up. 1 Rogue Waters Last, but by no means least, is Rogue Waters. In this 2024 turn-based tactics experience, players will live out their pirate fantasies as they take on the role of Captain Cutter and command a ship and its crew through procedurally generated encounters. As you upgrade your crew, you will need to train and recruit in order to create the best crew around, even going as far as to recruit powerful sea creatures to your side. Featuring dynamic naval combat and melee combat, Rogue Waters seems to be everything that Skull and Bones could not.
