Xbox Game Pass is packed with phenomenal games well worth playing, but more often than not, we can be hit with choice paralysis so bad that we simply let our subscriptions lapse without actually playing anything. Fortunately, now and then a game joins the service that is so good that one cannot avoid playing it for long. Indeed, these titles are often capable of breaking through the aforementioned choice paralysis and delivering a memorable experience that will rejuvenate our passion for the hobby. Among all the recent games joining Xbox Game Pass is an exciting JRPG unlike any other, one with over 80 hours of gameplay for those who want a lengthy experience, or substantially less for those who want an easy start to the genre. It's a modern classic, a game with sumptuous visuals, a fantastic narrative, a colorful cast of characters that make the journey all the more fun, and a combat system so fluid you'll want to keep coming back merely to kill more enemies. This is a great JRPG and a wonderful addition to Xbox Game Pass. This JRPG Is A Must-Play On Game Pass Final Fantasy 7 Remake is on Game Pass, a statement that once felt impossible but now marks a brand-new era for the trilogy and series as a whole. Final Fantasy has stuck rather fervently to PlayStation in the past, with PlayStation 5 being the exclusive console platform for the first two Final Fantasy 7 remakes for some time. However, back in January 2026, Square Enix finally brought both Remake Intergrade and Rebirth to the Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2, a move in no small part motivated by declining sales and the need for part 3 to succeed. It is rather fortuitous for fans that FF7 Remake Intergrade has made its way to Game Pass mere months after launching on Xbox, although one can imagine it is by no sheer accident. The timing is perfect, with Final Fantasy 7 Revelation's release date only a short while away, as new fans finally have an optimal way into the trilogy that doesn't break the bank. It is worth it too, as FF7 Remake is a truly exceptional JRPG, one elevated by its cinematic ambitions, excellent writing and characterization, and phenomenal evolution of the series' trademark turn-based combat. While many who've played the original may grumble at the game's attempts at expanding what was roughly a four-hour sequence into a 40-hour adventure, for the most part, Remake pulls it off. Sure, the side quests are easily skipped (although doing them all is required to hit that aforementioned 80-hour runtime), but the way Square Enix built upon the main story and its key players is phenomenal and easily trumps the original. Coupled with the switch to real-time combat (with elements of turn-based mechanics) and the best-in-class visuals, you have an engrossing experience that's well worth experiencing. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Is One Of The Best JRPGs In A While The version coming to Xbox Game Pass is Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, which includes both the base game and the spin-off DLC, Episode INTERmission, which focuses on Yuffie and her actions during the game's epic finale. It's an expansive offering, one that will take the vast majority of players between 40 and 50 hours to beat, but will last those truly dedicated to doing absolutely everything upwards of 100. It's also pretty essential to play Remake before Rebirth, as while the latter does attempt to catch players up on previous events, the sheer amount of emotional turmoil Cloud and co go through during Remake cannot be felt by newcomers through quick flashbacks or recaps. So, if you have any interest in playing Rebirth or Revelation because of their open-worlds or lengthy runtimes, then do yourself a favor and play Final Fantasy 7 Remake first. Now that it is on Xbox Game Pass, it's easier than ever before, and there really is no excuse to not give it a go.
