WWE legend Jim Ross shows off horror results of brain surgery as fans pray for ‘speedy recovery’

LEGENDARY WWE announcer Jim Ross has shown off his brutal scars following brain surgery. The 74-year-old has recently finished a 30-day stay in hospital after dealing with severe health issues, including fluid on the brain. The procedure appears to have been a success and Ross has the scars to prove it. This is the latest in a long line of health scares for the beloved commentator. He has had several bouts of Bell’s Palsy throughout his career that ended up changing his face and voice. He also tragically lost his wife, Jan, to a car accident in 2017. A devastating loss that he has admitted left him crushed. He also won his fight against skin cancer in 2021 and had surgery to successfully remove colon cancer two months ago. If there is one thing for sure, it’s that good ol’ JR is one tough cookie. During shunt surgery, a thin tube called a shunt is implanted in the patient’s brain. The excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain flows through the shunt to another part of your body, usually your tummy. From here, it’s absorbed into your blood. Inside the shunt there’s a valve that controls the flow of CSF, so it does not drain too quickly. You can feel the valve as a lump under the skin on your scalp. The operation Shunt surgery is done by a specialist in brain and nervous system surgery (neurosurgeon). It’s done under a general anaesthetic and usually takes 1 to 2 hours. Patients may need to stay in hospital for a few days after the operation to recover. If patients have stitches, they may dissolve or need to be removed. Some surgeons use skin staples to close the wound, which will need to be removed after a few days. After the shunt has been installed, further treatment for hydrocephalus may be needed if the shunt becomes blocked or infected. Shunt repair surgery will then be necessary.
