A woman has been seriously injured in a random stabbing on a Melbourne tram.The 51-year-old woman was travelling on the route 1 tram on Eastern Road in South Melbourne when a man allegedly lunged at her with a kitchen knife about midday on Tuesday.The tram immediately came to a stop just off Kings Way, with police descending on the area and arresting the man in front of dozens of onlookers.The stabbing took place on a route 1 tram as it travelled through South Melbourne.
